Weather Characteristics of Vintages:

Our vineyards escaped the spring frost despite an early start of the growing season, heavy wet conditions followed with plenty of rainfall and the forecast of heavy yield losses due to disease; only a clever vine grower manages to save the crop with the correct agrotechnical measures and timely spraying. Until the end of July almost 50% above average rainfall, stagnation of vegetation with the prospect of a rather late ripening of the grapes. This is followed by an extremely dry, warm to hot August with a fairly early end of vegetation and with ripening accelerated by desiccation. The vintage is rich in alcohol, the wines are warm; only a skilful winegrower has managed to keep enough freshness in the wine by choosing the correct harvest timing.
